Trail Expansion:
Phase III of the Meadow River Rail Trail project will add an additional 9 miles to the trail and connect it to the town of Rainelle. Construction will begin on Phase III in late 2023.
There is the potential for expansion to the Gauley River National Recreation area to connect the Meadow River Recreational Corridor with the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve.
Partnerships:
Partnership with Greenbrier West High School: Students at Greenbrier West High School have participated in each Phase of this project and will continue to do so until completion. Students assist with collecting drone imagery to use in GIS mapping, environmental review, design engineering, marketing, recreational planning and more. This affords the students with a unique learning opportunity and a sense of achievement as Phases are completed.

Partnership with Fayette and Greenbrier County Commissions: Both the Fayette and Greenbrier County Commissions have been instrumental in land procurement and progression of the Meadow River Rail Trail. We look forwarded to our continued collaboration and eventual trail completion. Through these relationships we have been able to promote community development and community involvement putting these dormant tracks of land back into public use.
